Boomer

Beagle Mix

Boomer was found trotting alone down the sidewalk as if he was late for work. He LOVES to be petted and enjoys playing with his people. Boomer has a calm nature and is not destructive. He will stalk squirrels but then quietly takes a nap by the back door. He has been in foster care with other dogs, but have no experience with him and kids or cats. Wont you make Boomer part of your family today??

RED ALERT: Urgent Message Regarding Fostering

At this time, we do not have any For Pets Sake volunteer foster homes. We do help Northwest Arkansas families place their pets up for adoption by posting their pets on our websites. Be aware that placing a pet sometimes takes weeks or even months. It has not been our experience that posting a pet on our websites results in immediate placement in a loving home. There are just too many pets in need of homes in our area. We appreciate that if you are having to put your pet up for adoption, you must be in between a rock and a hard place. However, so are we! We will continue to try to help families in need, but we are absolutely unable to take in any fosters at this time and we ask that you have realistic expectations when we post your pet on our websites for you.

FPS Seeking Art Show Business Sponsors

FPS is seeking 5 business sponsors to underwrite the 2008 art show at the Arts Center of the Ozarks in Springdale in January 2009. Winners will receive cash prizes and gift cards. Each sponsor contributes $250 and is featured in all advertizing and promotional material (news releases, playbills, membership drive, etc.) during the 2008/2009 ACO season. This was a huge success this past year and we expect the next one to be even better! We are selecting local pet-related businesses who want to promote themselves in this special market of arts advocates and pet enthusiasts. Every other means of publicity leave some gaps, for example: some readers will not read the paper on the day your ad runs. Some listeners are not tuned to the radio at the time of your ad is on the air. The target market for your TV ad might be outdoors or on vacation during your TV plug. But this form of advertising will reach arts subscribers over the course of the Arts Center's season in several mail ings, every playbill for every play, every newspaper release, every entry form, reception poster and at all of our business sponsors offices. The target market will be pet enthusiasts who follow the Arts. Interested? Contact us at forpetsake@hotmail.com

August FPS Meeting Scheduled

We will have our monthly volunteer meeting Thursday August 21st at 6:00 PM at the Pontiac Coffee House We'll be discussing the Art show committees and deciding if we want to have a dog wash this summer. The dog wash, from experience, was the funnest yet. Please come join our decision making and share your ideas. Hope to see everyone there!

Microchipping Clinic A Huge Success!

Millions of companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year. Of these, only two percent of cats and 15-20% of dogs are reunited with their owners. The best way to avoid this is to ensure your pets have a means to identify them at all times. A collar with tags is a good start, but the best way to ensure your pet's ID doesn't get lost is to microchip your pet. For Pets' Sake held our first microchipping clinic at the Fayetteville Farmer's Market on April 26th, 2008. Microchipping was offered for $20 per pet, which is about 1/2 to 1/3 of the regular cost of microchipping service. This included registration with Home Again microchipping service. The micro chip clinic was held in conjunction with National Pet ID week which is April 17 - April 23. FPS microchipped more than 40 dogs! Additionally, FPS took in a few new volunteers at the event along with several generous cash donations and sold a handful of our home made collars. The event was a huge success both for the 40+ dogs who now have a safe way home in case they get lost and for FPS!

The Collar Store is Now Open

Don't have time to volunteer, but still want to help the pets? You can buy a great collar for your dog and the proceeds will support FPS. FPS collars will be on sale at Dog Party USA and Weddington Animal Hospital in the next week weeks or shop in the convenience of your own home and pay with Paypal. Prices are: x-small and small $8; medium $9; large $10. FPS wants to thank Sarah Beckman for setting up the sale of our collars at Pretty Pets and thanks to Edna Zemites for hand making all of the beautiful collars. Dog Party USA is located at 912 S. Maestri between Tontitown and Springdale and Wedding Animal Hosptial is located at 4363 Wedington in Fayetteville.
