July-23 2010 FPS to Hold Adoption Day in Springdale

FPS will bring their adoptable pets to Orshelins in Springdale at 10 AM on August 7th, 2010. Come on out and see if one of our adoptable pets will be the perfect fit for your family!

July-12 2010 FPS to Hold Adoption Day in Fayetteville

FPS will hold an adoption day at the Fayetteville, AR Sam's Club in conjunction with the Springdale Animal Shelter on July 24th, 2010. The address is 3081 N. Highway 112. Come on out and see all of our adoptable pets!

April-30 2010 University of Arkansas Students Support FPS

FPS has been contacted by two U of A students for media Programs. The students, working independently from each other, will prepare multi-media programs of a few FPS officers and volunteers. This is an assignment associated with a media class on campus. Each media program will last just 2-4 minutes. One, by Danny Meyer, will focus on the BF program and the other, by Luke Gramlic, will cover an overview of the whole organization. April-30 2010 FPS to Hold Summer Microchip Clinic

The City of Springdale recently passed an ordinance that requires all Springdale pet owners to microchip all cats and dogs by May 13th, 2010. Microchip clinics will be held at the Springdale Shelter by the shelter and are for residents of Springdale. The registration is included and the price is $20. This is part of a bigger plan to reduce the number of dogs in the shelter and, thereby, reduce the number of dogs euthanized. Come on out to the Springdale Shelter on May 1st from 1 PM to 3 PM and on May 5th from 11 AM to 1 PM to get your pets microchipped. See the Springdale Animal Services website for more information

March-11 2010 FPS Receives Donation

Ian Horton donated $250 on behalf of his mother, Catrina - a FPS volunteer, for her birthday. Thanks to Ian and Catrina for their continued support of FPS.

March-11 2010 FPS Participates in Washington County Spay Day

Washington County hosted the Spay Day Expo 2010 on February 27 and For Pets' Sake participated. Information was given out on free spay/neuter programs and reduced cost programs to have your animals spayed/neutered. Events included:

* Low cost rabies vaccination clinic ($5.00) - 317 shots were given!

* Free microchipping for the first 200 cats/dogs (funded by the Humane Society of the Ozarks and Washington County) - 231 microchips were implanted!

* Agility and dog obedience demos by Dogwatch, Dogparty USA, Canine College and the K9 unit of Washington County

* Special appearance by Raven, the firehouse dog

* Area rescues and shelters had animals on site for adoption and FPS had two of our adoptable pets there for adoption.

March-11 2010 FPS Starts Veteran Companion Animal Training Program

FPS is now developing a program to train service dogs as companion animals for veterans with stress or PTSD. Dogs will be selected for the population at the Fayetteville and Springdale animal shelters. Only dogs with the appropriate temperament will be selected. Then the dogs will be medically cleared and will receive obedience training and be house trained. Veterans may apply through the Veteran's Administration in Fayetteville and will be matched with a suitable dog for a companion.

February-08 2010 Mardi Paws Parade

Join the Mardi Paws pet parade at the 4th annual Mardi Gras Mambo at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista on February 14th from 1 PM - 3 PM. Pets will be in costume and prizes will be awarded for the best dressed pet! For more info, contact Mindi and/or complete the registration form.

January-29 2010 FPS Supports SpayArkansas Gumbo Supper

The SpayArkansas Gumbo Supper will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 1833 E. Applebury Drive, Fayetteville, AR 72701. The supper follows the annual Fayetteville Mardi Gras parade, which will be held at 3 p.m. that same day. SpayArkansas will participate in the parade with doggies and a trailer, like last year. All the food you can eat and some libations will be provided at the big party. SpayArkansas will be asking for a $10 donation at the door. Proceeds go toward establishing a low-cost spay/neuter clinic in Northwest Arkansas (mobile or stationary). SpayArkansas is a 501c3 and donations are tax deductible. If you have a conflict that day, please donate to the cause. Directions to the party: Traveling north on Highway 71 Business or North College in Fayetteville, take a right onto Lafayette Street by Marvin's IGA. This curves to the left and becomes Highway 45 East (Mission Blvd.). After you pass Root Elementary School on the right, take the next right onto Lunsford. Then, take the third left. Amylou's house at 1833 E. Applebury Drive is the first driveway and house on the left. Park on the street. If you would like to help decorate the float, find SpayArkansas at the Fayetteville downtown square at 1 PM. Bring beads, dog biscuits, and crepe paper! If you want to help walk a shelter dog or just walk with SpayArkansas or ride on the float (limited space) come to the square 2 PM. Wear your warmest Mardi Gras duds! January-16 2010 FPS at Petco

FPS was at Petco in Fayetteville Arkansas with several adoptable dogs on Saturday January 16th. Two of Springdale Animal Shelter's dogs were adopted at the event. FPS still has three adoptable dogs in our foster care. See our home page or petfinder site for details on how you can adopt these pets.

November-21 2009 NWA Parrotheads Hold Silent Auction for FPS

FPS will be the beneficiary of a silent auction on December 5th at the Spring Creek Golf Club in Cave Springs. The event will begin at 5:30 pm. FPS was invited to this event by Terri McNeelis of the NWA Parrot Heads (fans of Jimmy Buffet music).
